Berthing Projects:


INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS:
a. Replace berths with CPO modular berths with privacy partitions and berth curtains arranged in six-person cubicles, as practical, with ten percent long berths. Total number of new berths will be equal to the existing berthing.
b. Redistribute air supply terminals to provide overhead diffusers within each berth cubicle.
c. Redistribute overhead lighting to conform to new arrangements. Provide one berth light per accommodation and mirror lights as required.
d. Improve traffic flow and privacy, as practical, through the arrangement of furniture.
e. Provide lockers for stowage of clothing and personal effects to meet or exceed minimums required per accommodations. For CPO (E7-E9) provide 14 cubic feet of locker space, 18 inches hanging space and 0.75 cubic feet of soiled laundry stowage.
f. Provide a means of secondary egress if one does not exist and berthing capacity exceeds 21 personnel.
g. Provide recreation/lounge area in berthing compartments segregated from sleeping area to the maximum extent feasible.
h. Provide storage for iron and ironing board.
i. Provide bulletin boards, watch-quarter boards and mirrors.
j. Prepare and preserve decks, bulkheads and overheads.
k. Replace deck covering.
l. Replace any damaged insulation.
m. Paint bulkheads and overheads.

g. Provide accessories and additional shelves, working surfaces and stowage as feasible.
h. Replace ventilation diffusers, and as feasible improve distribution of air.
i. Redistribute overhead lighting to conform to new arrangements. Provide one berth light per accommodation and mirror lights at each sink. Lights within secretaries will include a receptacle.
j. Prepare and preserve decks, bulkheads and overheads.
k. Replace deck covering.
l. Replace any damaged insulation.
m. Paint overheads and bulkheads.
